MTV VMAs: Diesel Moments

The 2010 MTV VMAs are tonight. What was once a celebration of the year’s best music videos has evolved into just another over hyped ego stroking ceremony for the hottest acts today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to watch, but the “M” in MTV has completely lost its relevancy. Over the years, there have been several amazing performances and WTF moments. Here are my most diesel memories.

Fred Durst Joins Christina Aguilera
One of the coolest surprise guest appearances ever. Durst rocking out with Xtina was the perfect combination of bad boy vs. pop princess and spawned rumors that Durst did do it all for the nookie.

Bink-182 Go Small
Very cool that Blink got to close the show with tons of midgets running around. Something tells me this wouldn’t fly today.

Guns & Elton John
Great song, great duet. Epic.

Rage Against the Machine
Bassist Tim from RATM will forever be known as the dude who bum rushed the stage and climbed the set in protest of Limp Bizkit winning a moon man. What people probably forget is this killer jam from the same show.

Britney Spears on Drugs
A completely surreal train wreck.

Triumph the Insult Comic Vs. Eminem
I could only find a video of Triumph making fun of Jennifer Lopez, but the puppet’s most famous confrontation was with Eminem. Will Triumph be on the new Conan show? Maybe I’d watch if so.

Lifetime Achievement: Green Day
Green Day always puts on a great show and the VMAs is o exception. It’s crazy to think that they played at the 1994 VMAs and have become one of the biggest bands in the world over the last 15 years.
